I strongly believe Matrescence is a word that every HR Director, Talent Director, D&I Lead, Exec Coach, Womens’ Network Chair and anyone working in People Transformation Consultancy needs to know!
In 2022 I decided to take a break from corporate life which prior to having my third child I would never have considered let alone put into action. Learning about the word Matrescence, the process of transition from women to mother, has been transformational for me and I am now on a mission to get the term Matrescence discussed from boardrooms to kitchen tables and from offices to playgrounds.

I work with organisations to strengthen their leadership pipeline, reduce attrition rates, improve their EVP, enhance productivity and build a more inclusive culture by focusing on the health and well-being of mothers.
With 47% of the employed population being women and with 86% of these becoming mothers by the age of 40, something needs to change.
Offering flexible working and return to work programmes is NOT enough and is currently not working. Organisations need to support mums differently.
Returning mums are often isolated, misunderstood and burnt out and subsequently many are leaving the workplace. More needs to be done by organisations if they are going to maintain the engagement, motivation, performance and well-being of their working mums.
